Celebrating this year's alpacas
Our farm shearing is coming up fast--April 13. Last year's shearing was quite an adventure as I had a cria birth take place during the shearing marathon. This year I am not expecting any cria, but each year brings its own challenges and excitement, unexpected things that can't be planned for. At least the weather looks like it will be cooperative.

Alpacas at Cherry Run is an alpaca farm located in central North Carolina, about 30 minutes southeast of Raleigh, NC. We feel privileged to own and breed award winning huacaya alpacas. It is such an adventure and ongoing learning opportunity. Much of our farm was raw land when we first acquired it, but we have steadily improved and updated our infrastructure and added a farm store. The farm is wonderfully photogenic including ponds and woodlands that add depth to your relaxing and enjoyable visit. Our animals have the freedom to exercise and graze open pastures, resulting in good-natured beings.
Our operations goal is to ensure good health and well-being of our alpacas to further our breeding objectives which is focused on fleece. The animals on our farm are from well-known lineages or have won their own awards. Our breeding program is aimed at producing optimal alpaca conformation, healthy, good-natured animals and top notch fleeces. In as much as we handspin, felt and dye our own roving and yarns, our select fleece quality will have soft handle, ample staple length and acceptable fiber fineness for broad marketable appeal and use. We believe this makes us stand out because we see how our breeding goals are reflected in finished products.
In addition to our breeding and fiber programs, we are active in North Carolina's Alpaca Breeders and Owners Association. Depend on us to provide excellent customer service and follow up support. There is also plenty of room for boarding, so let us assist you with your purchase and boarding needs.
Looking for help? We offer fleece skirting services and we will also process individual fleeces for dying and roving. Click on the Store tab above to check out some of the products available for sale.
